MOTIF 5: Octagon 
Ch 5, sl st in beg ch to form a ring. 
Rnd 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc), work 15 dc in ring, join with sl st in top of beg ch – 16 dc. 
Rnd 2: Ch 3, 2 dc in same st, dc in next dc, (3 dc in next dc, dc in next dc) around, join with sl st in top of beg ch – 32 dc. 
Rnd 3: Ch 3, (3 dc in next dc, dc in next 3 dc) around, end last repeat (3 dc in next dc, dc in each of next 2 dc), join with sl st in top of beg ch – 48 dc. 
Rnd 4: Ch 3, dc in next dc, (3 dc in next dc, dc in each of next 3 dc) around, end last repeat (3 dc in next dc, dc in next dc), join with sl st in top of beg ch – 72 dc. 
Fasten off.
